Drive Test on Perodua Alza 2022

Wapcar – The new Alza 2022 stands out as the hottest model from Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) new from the factory so far this year. It has accumulated 39,000 reservations since the beginning of the year, which is a significant achievement in the automotive industry.

Even more impressive when you realize that this model was only launched late last month and we only launched in mid-August. But it is possible that many people simply bought the buzz and took a bite. bullets when booking, mainly because they want to take advantage of the sales tax exemption before the June 30 deadline?

After driving a new seven-passenger Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV), it can be said that these people have indeed made a very wise decision.

PRACTICAL PACKAGE

The media took the MPV to Perodua’s own test track as well as the drive from Rawang to Kota Baru recently and I feel like the new Alza is for everyone.

If family and economy are your priorities, the seven-seater is unquestionable. With the third row lowered, we could seat at least six adult men with little fuss.

Actual fuel consumption is close to official figures, we only refueled twice during our more than eight-hour journey to Kota Baru.

It should be noted that we weren’t easy with the pedal, but felt it shouldn’t make too much of a difference given the distance and weight of the cargo.

The big shock was performance, which didn’t register right away on our first short test, and it wasn’t until our extended trip to Kelantan that we appreciated it.

Fairly good acceleration while handling, thanks to the low ground clearance and steering, is the highlight of the show, with the minivan responding quickly even at higher speeds.

Under controlled conditions, the new Alza climbed the Genting Highlands (with passenger luggage and equipment) and was able to reach speeds of 180 km/h (the controls start to fade from 170 km). /h) before the engine starts squealing.

The suspension has also been tuned to deliver a smooth ride in most road conditions, minus large speed bumps or potholes.

TOTAL TRANSFORMATION

Based on the new  Toyota Veloz or Daihatsu Xenia coming soon in various markets, the Alza 2022  is the first relevant update of the model since it entered the market in 2009. With a larger stature and As a result, the interior cabin is larger than its predecessor – especially in the third row, which now has a rear air conditioning unit.

Luggage capacity is 137 liters and increases to 498 liters when the third row of seats is folded down. It can also best be described as a lower and slightly longer Perodua Aruz (or Toyota Rush) in some areas. It has a ground clearance of 160mm, which is rated by the company as the best height for a comfortable ride in Malaysia for an MPV.

According to the information from Wapcar, The favorite car in the B-segment runs on a dual 1.5L VVT-i EEV engine combined with a D-CVT transmission that delivers 105 hp and 138 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. Fuel efficiency is said to have improved and is considered one of the best in its class at speeds up to 22 km per litre.

Other new features include a 360-degree panoramic view, an electronic parking brake with automatic brake hold function, a rear disc brake and three driving modes  “Normal”, “Eco” and “Power”.

With family travel a priority, Alza 2022  is equipped with safety features. These include six airbags, an anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability control with brake assist and rear sensors for parking assist.

The standard Perodua Smart Drive Assist kit for all variants includes advanced safety assistance functions such as forward collision warning, front collision brake assist (vehicle and pedestrian), control Check operation in case of misstep and forward departure warning.

All variants will also have Lane Departure Warning and Lane Departure Prevention, High Beam Assist and Hill Start Assist.

Alza 2022  is priced at RM62,500 for the X variant, RM68,000 for the H and RM75,500 for the high-spec AV.

They are available in five color options ivory white, sparkling silver, garnet red, elegant black and classic brown.

VERDICT

When I say minivans are for everyone, I’m not kidding. As a B-segment minivan, there’s nothing on the market right now that can beat it.

You get a lot for the price you pay. After adding the Alza’s handling,  ground clearance and lower price tag, this makes it impractical to buy any other model.

All in all, it’s not too far off when I say that this is the best Perodua model on the market today.

For fans and buyers, the hype about the new Alza is real and it’s a real gem. Just keep in mind its B-segment status and the MPV will meet or exceed your expectations.
